Sew a lightweight, comfy nightie for your little one with the Summer Nightie FREE Pattern published in the Sew Much ADO blog. This pattern is available in size 2-3T.
What I love the most about sewing PJs for the kids is that there are one of a kind and they are happy that they were sewn by mom.
Print pattern at 100% (no scaling) and tape pieces together, matching triangles. Cut fabric as instructed on pattern, including “additional pieces to cut” as noted on front/back pattern piece.
1/2″ Seam allowances are included in the pattern.
1 1/4 yd 58″ wide knit fabric (can use contrast knit for the neck and armhole bands if desired)
There are step by step illustrated instructions in the Sew Much ADO blog.
Sewing with Knits:
Sewing with knits can be tricky at the beginning, but once you learn the basics it is even easier than sewing with woven fabrics. Below are some tips:
- Cut with a Rotary Cutter.
- Use Ball Point Jersey Machine Needles
- A Serger will make your job a lot easier, but if you don’t have a serger you can use a zig zag stitch.
- Use a Stretch Twin Needles for the finishing (hem and sleeves)
I hope you enjoy sewing this nightie for your little girl.
