Skirt Designs

Find a great selection of skirt designs and learn how to design your own skirts for any figure, style, or size.  You’ll have professionally looking and stylish skirts.

Sloper Pattern

The first step to design a skirt is to have a skirt sloper pattern that fits you well. Once you have your sloper, you can use it to make any skirt design or you can also use it to adjust commercial skirt patterns.

If you don’t have a skirt sloper yet, the post how to make a skirt sloper might be a good resource.

Once you have your skirt sloper, you are going to be able to make any skirt.

Skirt Designs Examples

There are a few websites that publish free patterns and are great for ideas and inspiration. My favorites are the Brazilian websites (listed below). These websites are in Portuguese, but the illustrations are very helpful to understand how to draft many different skirt designs.

1. Moldes di Casa Moda

The Brazilian website Moldes di Casa Moda is the most popular.  Once you understand how to draft the skirt patterns the illustrations from this website will make more sense.  Here are some examples from this website:

2. Marlene Mukai

Another popular website is by the Marlene Mukai designer.  Her illustrations look hand-made, but you can find how to draft skirt patterns for many different looks. Here are some skirt design examples from her website.

3. ModelistA

Not as popular as the other two, but another website that I like for pattern inspiration is ModelistA, which is similar to Moldes di Casa Moda. Here are some examples of ModelistA:
